    About Us

The World AIDS Museum and Educational Center (WAM), located in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, was launched in 2008 by a support group of men living with HIV to increase community awareness of the history of HIV/AIDS and reduce stigma that creates barriers to prevention, testing and treatment. We were incorporated as a 501(c)(3) in 2011, and opened in May 2014.
Our mission is to promote dialogue that eliminates HIV/AIDS stigma through education, artistic expression and cultural programming. Our vision is to eliminate HIV/AIDS stigma and preserve its history. WAM engages communities through online and gallery exhibits, discussion-based educational and arts programming that encourages connection on an emotional level.
Since its inception, WAM reached more than 25,000 people through in-person museum visits, online cultural programming and prevention education workshops.
